EEL 5718-EDGE: Computer Communications

Summer 2006

• EEL 4514 Communication Systems and Components. 
  Theory of communication, and applications to radio, television, telephone, satellite, 
  cellular telephone,spread spectrum, and computer communication systems.
  
  
• Computer requirements: 
• Electronic homework and project submissions are required.  Assignments are to be uploaded to the course website in one of the following formats: MS Word, Text, or PDF. A scanner will allow you to save as PDF.
  
• Access to a computer programming or simulation tool is required for the course project and some of the homework assignments.
  
  • MATLAB and C/C++  are available via remote access to the ECE computer lab, if you have a valid ECE student account

• Network simulation software is optional.
  For the course project, students may choose to use a network simulation software, such as OPNET or ns. Obtaining and supporting such software is the sole responsibility of the student.
  
• Note: Not being able to access a public computer will not be a valid excuse for late or missing assignments.

• Assignment Deadlines
  
• Assignment deadlines are posted in webct. Deadline adjustments due to work schedule/travel are available. These must be pre-approved by the instructor.
• There will be no make-ups for missed exams, homework, or project deadlines. Penalties: Deduction of 25% per day. If assignment is not turned in by the time the solution is posted, the assignment receives a grade of zero.
  
• All assignments are an Individual Effort: All assignments are assumed to be an individual effort unless otherwise specified by the instructor.
• Announcements will be made in Lecture, on Website, or via Email:
